The QDRO ChatBot pilot is an on-demand reference tool designed specifically for bench officers handling matters involving the division of retirement benefits. It utilizes QDRO authorities, statutes, case law, treatises, and judicial best practices and presents them conversationally. It is an instant supplemental resource available in chambers, at calendar call, or during a hearing.

How it works

When you ask a question, the chatbot first searches its curated QDRO knowledge base, a vetted body of statutes, appellate decisions, and recognized treatises on retirement benefit division in family law. If the answer is present in that corpus, the response is drawn directly from those sources and presented with citations you can verify.

If the curated material does not confidently cover the question, the chatbot does not guess. It pauses and asks whether you would like to consult a large language model (LLM) as a fallback. If you proceed and the question remains within the domain of retirement benefit division, the chatbot will produce an on-topic answer, prefaced with a clear notice that it was generated by a LLM rather than drawn from vetted material. If the question falls outside that domain, the chatbot will respectfully decline and redirect you to its intended subject matter.

This ChatBot is intended for:
